Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrival in Paro & Drive to Thimphu: Welcome to the Land of the Thunder Dragon
Arrive at Paro and receive a warm traditional Bhutanese welcome with “Tashi Khadar” from your guide. Enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu, passing lush valleys and picturesque landscapes. In the evening, explore the charming town of Thimphu, soaking in the tranquil Himalayan ambiance. Overnight in Thimphu.
Begin your day with visits to Kuenselphodrang (the giant Buddha statue overlooking Thimphu), National Memorial Chhorten, and Zorig Chusum – the School of 13 Traditional Arts. Explore the Folk Heritage Museum and enjoy a traditional Bhutanese lunch there. In the afternoon, take in panoramic views from Sangaygang viewpoint, visit the Takin Preserve (home to Bhutan’s national animal), Changangkha Monastery, and the majestic Tashichhodzong. Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, drive to Gangtey/Phobjikha via Dochula Pass (3,150 m) with breathtaking views of the high Himalayas and 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens. In Gangtey, visit the Gangtey Goemba, founded in 1613, and the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre. Evening at leisure, enjoying the serene valley. Overnight in Gangtey/Phobjikha.
Spend a full day exploring the Phobjikha Valley, one of Bhutan’s most stunning glacial valleys. Walk along scenic trails, observe the endangered Black-Necked Cranes, and experience the tranquil beauty of the valley surrounded by rolling hills and pine forests. Overnight in Gangtey/Phobjikha.
Drive across Pele-La Pass (11,120 ft), witnessing the shift from dense forests to high-altitude bamboo. Stop at Chendbji Chorten, then explore the imposing Trongsa Dzong and the ancient Ta Dzong watchtower. Continue to Bumthang via Yutong-La Pass (11,155 ft), visiting the Yathra Weaving Factory in Chumey Valley. Overnight in Bumthang.
Morning visits include Jakar Dzong, Lamey Goemba, Jambay Lhakhang, Chakhar Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, and Tamshing Lhakhang. Discover centuries-old architecture, sacred murals, and the spiritual heart of Bhutan’s central region. Immerse in the rich cultural heritage of Bumthang. Overnight in Bumthang.
Take a full-day excursion to Tang Valley, visiting Membar Tsho (Burning Lake) and Drangchel, the birthplace of Pema Lingpa. Explore traditional villages and stop at Ugyenchholing Palace museum to learn about aristocratic Bhutanese life. Return to Bumthang for overnight stay.
Depart Bumthang and enjoy a scenic drive to Punakha/Wangdue, passing lush landscapes and rivers. Stop for lunch en route and arrive in Punakha/Wangdue. Rest of the day at leisure to unwind and enjoy the peaceful valley surroundings. Overnight in Punakha/Wangdue.
Visit the majestic Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Monastery in the morning. In the afternoon, explore Punakha Dzong, the seat of government until mid-20th century, and Chhimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Punakha/Wangdue.
Drive to Paro, stopping at the Royal Botanical Park to admire Bhutan’s rich flora and fauna. In the afternoon, explore Paro Rinpung Dzong and the Ta Dzong (National Museum). Enjoy a stroll through Paro town, soaking in the local life and valley views. Overnight in Paro.
Embark on a scenic hike to Taktsang Monastery, perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley. Enjoy a picnic lunch amid serene surroundings. Visit Kyichhu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, and experience traditional village life including a hot stone bath with locals. Overnight in Paro.
Drive to the airport for your onward journey, carrying memories of Bhutan’s spiritual valleys, majestic mountains, and vibrant cultural heritage.
