DAY 1 Arrival in Jaldapara’s Wilderness
Meet our representative at Bagdogra Airport (412 ft) or NJP Railway Station (460 ft) and drive through scenic landscapes to Jaldapara (125 km). Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and unwind amidst the greenery. Evening at leisure in the forested surroundings.
Journey to Phuentsholing (30 km), the gateway to Bhutan. Complete immigration formalities with assistance, then continue through winding mountain roads to reach Thimphu (158 km). The capital welcomes you with cool air and vibrant cultural charm. Settle into your hotel and soak in the city’s serene vibe.
Spend the day discovering Thimphu’s highlights: panoramic views from Sangaygang View Point, the towering Buddha Point, and the artistry of the Institute for Zorig Chusum. Delve into Bhutanese heritage at the Textiles Museum and handicraft shops, step inside Zangthopelri Lhakhang, and experience interactive traditions at Simply Bhutan. Meet the gentle takins at Motithang Preserve before returning to your hotel.
Leave Thimphu behind and journey towards Punakha/Wangdi (70 km). Pause at the iconic Dochu La Pass, where 108 chortens crown the ridge, and the Himalayan ranges stretch ndlessly across the horizon. Continue into Punakha’s lush valley and settle in amidst its subtropical landscapes, with the afternoon free to relax or explore at your own pace.

Option 1: Punakha Exploration

Spend the day exploring Punakha, beginning with the majestic Punakha Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture. Walk across the suspension bridge and enjoy a scenic 30-minute trail to Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility. Adventurers may opt for white water rafting on the Punakha River (direct payment; carry an extra set of clothes). Evening at leisure back in Punakha/Wangdi.
Option 2: Excursion to Gangtey & Phobjikha Valley
Embark on a full-day excursion (85 km) to the breathtaking Gangtey & Phobjikha Valley, home to sweeping glacial landscapes. Visit the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre and the serene Gangtey Goempa Monastery before returning to Punakha/Wangdi.
Leave Punakha/Wangdi behind and drive towards Paro (148 km). En route, pause at Lamperi’s Royal Botanical Garden, a sanctuary of alpine flowers and vibrant rhododendrons. Continue your journey into the broad and beautiful Paro Valley, where traditions and natural beauty blend seamlessly. Settle into your hotel and enjoy the serene evening atmosphere.
Option 1: Paro Sightseeing
The morning begins with a visit to Dungtse Lhakhang, followed by a panoramic stop at the Bird’s Eye View Point, where the Paro Valley and its airport unfold like a painting. Continue to the National Museum at Ta Dzong, the impressive Rinpung Dzong, and the sacred Kichu Lhakhang. As evening sets in, return to your hotel and settle in for the night.
Option 2: Hike to Taktsang Monastery
Rise early for the iconic trek to Taktsang Lhakhang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery). The trail winds uphill for 2.5–3 hours through pine-scented forests, offering rewarding views with each step. Guests preferring a shorter climb can stop at the cafeteria viewpoint. After descending, your vehicle waits to bring you back to Paro, where the evening is yours to relax.
Enjoy your final morning in Paro before checking out. A short drive (6 km) brings you to Paro International Airport (PBH), where you board your onwards flight, carrying with you the memories of Bhutan’s valleys, monasteries, and mountain vistas.
